cold fall days / bliss

Today is one of those cold fall days that takes me back to my childhood.
Coming home from school today I wanted nothing more than to go home,
Turn the heat up high, grab my favorite blanket, put on some comfy pjs,
And lay down in the living room right over the heat vent
Using the blanket to create a warm little cocoon.

The best was when Oscar would climb in too.
He was my favorite.  Today I kind of miss him.
Sometimes he would get too hot and leave.
Sometimes I would too.  But I learned how to fight that.
You learn to wear socks to cover up your feet {I hate socks...this was the exception}
And make sure your pjs came all the way down to save your legs from extreme heat.
It's amazing what a thin piece of fabric can do.
Those were the days when you'd watch TV super close.  Or take a nap.
Those days were bliss.

It's days like today that I want to go back in time.
To be at home with my lovely little heat vent
Instead of ~40 degree Logan with snow on the mountains
And promise of a cold winter.
I knew what I was signing up for coming to school here.
I've experienced it.  And I love it.

However much I'd like to go back in time I know I can't.
It's not physically possible.
Even if I drove home now it still wouldn't be quite the same.
The blanket is beginning to look worn with age.
Time has gotten the best of Oscar.
The siblings aren't there.  And the parents aren't half the time either.

You never seem to realize it in the moment
How truly wonderful the simple things in life are.
Heat vent blanket bliss.
Family all being together.
Bliss.

Lately I've been super happy.
I finally got a calling.  It's not anything big, but it shows that I'm needed.
I've made a few new friends.  I think they're pretty great.  And they make me smile.
And I have super roommates.  Sometimes we're loud.  Sometimes we're crazy.
We like to poke fun at one another.  And have really long talks.  And watch movies.
And be best friends.  And watch out for one another.
And my bff Angie was able to visit Logan last weekend.
And I was able to watch all of General Conference for like the first time in years.
And things are falling together quite perfectly.
Bliss.

camping!

Last Friday night Sarah, Janie, Kylee, and I went camping up at Sarah's property.  Here are pictures to illustrate the rest of the day...

We loaded up the Jeep and headed to Walmart.  We bought some food...and then headed to Little Caesars to buy pizza and breadsticks and then to Micky D's to get drinks for $1.  {we didn't want to work too hard for our food :) }  And then we hit the road.

So up in Cottonwood, Sarah's family has something even better than an outhouse.  It's called a toilet that flushes.  And it resides inside this building.

However, when we got up there, it was locked.  Where oh where was the key?  Sarah looked...but no luck.  So we had two options.  We could drive back to the start of the dirt road where we knew we had cell phone service or head up the mountain on a 4-wheeler where it is known to sometimes to get service...

So of course we picked the 4-wheeler.

And somehow, we got service before we got to the top.  So Sarah called her grandpa and he told her where the key was.  There would be no squatting or outhouse for us! :)

We decided we should probably get started on a fire.  We decided one log was too big but we didn't really have any others to choose from so our only other option was to chop it and make it smaller.

So we spent what felt like hours chopping.  But comparing the time from the first picture to the last....it was just over an hour.  BUT, in our defense the ax was really dull.

Our feet.  And our log in the fire :)

And between the four of us we cooked marshmallows eaten layer by layer, starbursts, and s'mores.

We then got ready for bed, ran around the field for a minute, and climbed onto the tramp.  We weren't sure which sprinklers were going to come on...so that seemed like the safest place to sleep.

But, instead of going to sleep, we spent our time taking pictures....here are a few...

"Let's pretend we're laughing!"

I just spent five minutes laughing.  These are faces only a mother could love :)
And then we stared at the stars...and talked...and dropped off to sleep.

And woke up to this

We then ate breakfast {cinnamon chex and white/chocolate milk} and packed up and went home.  They went on to Tim McGraw, the Band Perry, and Luke Bryan...and I went on to work.  I bet they had more fun!  Here are a few other pictures from our adventure...

It was really bright...

beebee890

Last night my family was sitting at the dinner table and my sister showed us a YouTube video...and then we realized BeeBee890 has over 2800 videos!  That could keep me entertained for hours!  It was great having a night full of laughter with the family.

It started with this. . . .

Then progressed to this. . . .

And I found this gem today.  It's my favorite.  My roommates asked me why I was laughing so hard...so I showed them.

Here is a link to his YouTube page ----> here

Disclaimer:  We aren't trying to be rude or mean.  In my opinion he makes the videos for his enjoyment and enjoys that other people receive enjoyment from them too.  He is awesome that he can overlook the negative comments and continue doing what he loves.
